Surfaces and windows, provisions and standards in brief.
The purpose of this law is to prevent risks involving worker health and safety.
Comprised of 98 articles plus 13 annexes, it is the first law to introduce into the Italian legal system preventive safety measures and principles of ergonomics.
Numerous articles cover sources of light and heat, and transparent or translucent surfaces such as glazing in general:
- windows must be protected against breaking and entering
- glass breakage must be controlled
- windows, skylights and glass walls must prevent excessive solar radiation entering the workplace
- workers must be protected from excessively high or low temperatures by means of local technical measures or personal protection equipment
- the workplace must be correctly illuminated, avoiding reflection and glare
- artificial illumination in the workplace must be adequate.

There are also specifications covering execution of the work, extending the concept of “installation according to the rules of the trade”:
- the company that handles installation must prove it possesses the technical and professional requisites
- the company must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce and its principal activity must be the installation of films
- the company must be able to provide an official guarantee by the manufacturer of the material it uses
- each roll of product used must be marked with its denomination and the production lot.
The product manufacturer must provide ISO 9002 certification, which guarantees quality control during the stages of production, storage and despatch.
