Types of film: safety, fragment-retention.

Situation: Unfortunately, in the workplace, at home or school, in block of flats and all public places, windows quite often get broken, leading to a series of hazardous situations. The pane of glass itself or flying shards constitute a serious safety risk.

Italian Law 626/94 requires all glazed surfaces in workplaces to be classified as “safety glass” and certified according to UNI EN ISO 12543 EX 7172.

Solution: The solution in such cases is to use polyester film at least one tenth of a millimetre (0.1 mm) thick as this increases the resistance of the glass and will help hold broken shards together.
