The superior quality of the glass/film system must be verified and attested by a certification body, particularly as regards specific safety applications.
Standards governing the test conduction methods are issued by UNI, the Italian National Standards Institute. If the tests are passed, the Institute issues a certificate detailing the nature of the samples tested, the type, the method and the test results. This certificate proves the efficacy of the system and authorizes it to be marketed for the specified application.

In 1993, the Italian National Standards Institute (UNI) adopted the new International Classification for Standards (ICS) drawn up by ISO (International Organization for Standardization). The list below shows the ISO standard with the number of the UNI standard and the title. The link corresponding to the Standard Number refers to the UNI online catalogue, and complies with it as regards the contents.
By Presidential Decree and European Directive, the purpose of UNI is to draw up and publish standards in all areas of industry, except for the electrical sector (which is covered by CEI, the Italian Electro-technical Committee), promote compliance with the standards, establish relations with other international standards, and represent Italy at meetings of the technical committees of ISO and CEN (European Committee for Standardization). The standards listed can be obtained from UNI info points.
